A Little Bling

I'm doing a complete refinish of an old Martin D-28 that was in terrible shape. It was a daunting task to begin but with a little time and patience the end is near. This instrument already has enough "bling" that you need sunglasses to look at it (LOL), and it has yet to be sanded out & buffed. It's got a standard ZPOXY & nitro lacquer finish.

It is strange to me that so much reverence is ascribed to the finish on old instruments. The value of an antique car that has been refinished is greatly enhanced, but refinishing an instrument has the opposite effect. The truth is, finishes simply don't last that long, particularly if the instrument is heavily played, as God intended.
This Martin looks like it is good to go for another 40, 50, or even 100 years.
