Just a reminder -- This is the weekend for the annual "Gizzard Fest" in Potterville MI. no kidding!

Woo-hoo!!! Them're good times!!

We have us the annual Rooster Crow out in the little town of Rogue River a little later this month - those who sponsor the event are kind enough to wait for the absolute hottest day on record for the even. Most crows in a 30 minute period wins the prize. I believe it's fried chicken.

Here in Michigan beer tents are set up to celebrate just about anything you can imagine -- there's a Hog Fest coming up pretty soon. And then there's the tail gate parties -- sometimes guys actually go into the stadiums!

This guy won it two times in a row. My wife Ronda was a 'judge' one year - she was assigned a rooster and made a little mark on an official pad each time he crowed. His owner - all the owners in fact, or should I say trainers - would urge their roosters on by many edifying and hilarious tricks. I could write a short book about it.

We are not without culture in southern Oregon - here is another objet D' Art that is dressed according to the time of year. Playoffs? Shoulder pads. Panty raid? A large pair of panties, a bit skimpy if you ask me. You get the picture.

It's like our National "Hollerin'" contest in Spivey Corners, NC.
