Would it dampen the wood? Or create problems with Nitro adhesion? Pardon the silly questions. This just looks too easy.

I have used other CA glues for pore filling ukuleles. On my last guitar I used it for the head stock veneer. I use a paper towel and do not slap as much around. But I found it worked well. Very fast if you use an accelerator. Just fast if you do not.

I just emailed that luthier to see if he has had any compatibility problems etc.
I used CA as a pore filler once - it filled fine, but there were adhesion issues with the topcoat - a number of people reported that problem as well, so I gave up on it. Some like John apparently have had success.

John - why did you stop using the CA?

Thanks for the kind words. Don’t do it the way I did it for Paul in that crazy video. Yes it is a great filler. The Guild of American luthiers has a write-up on it with a much better technique.

WEAR RUBBER GLOVES!!! Use a wad of paper toweling and squirt the glue on an area of about 1/4 of the guitar back. Smear it around with the wad. It covers very well. Do that again until the back is done. When you sand it out use a random orbit sander and sand all the way down to bare wood. It will leave adequate filler in the grain and accept any finish you want. I have had success with French Polish and lacquer as well

I still have it in my bag of tricks. On larger instrument the fumes are really strong. On a ukulele I can get a coat on very quickly and avoid most of the fumes. Also I like the amber tone in zpoxy. I have had no problem with shellac so you can put a couple of seal coats of shellac on before the lacquer.

Thanks for the replies. I jut couldn't believe my eyes watching him smear CA all over the BRZ. That wood is so expensive. I just wouldn't chance it.

The reason I ask is I got an amazing deal on some Ziricote and I read a lot of luthiers use CA to strengthen it.

I have some Cardinal pore filler for my BRZ dread that I am about to finish now. I will follow the instructions and hopefully it should bond well.

Here is my Ziricote set. I am thinking of a 12 fret short scale dread for it. I haven't decided. I got it for 200.00. I thought that was a steal.

I understand there are adhesion issues if all but the CA actually in the pores is not removed -- there are some CA products being sold as flexible "finish" coatings not sure of the brand names -- fumes from CA are nasty. Even the odor free burns my eyes and nose.
