Trend router

Post by Paul C » Sat Jan 17, 2015 3:46 pm

Any one have or used this router? I was thinking of trying it for rosettes mainly cuz of the plunging capability which seemed it would have been nice to have that last time I did one which was my first. I do have a larger plunge router but maybe too big for rosettes. I've seen some bad and good reviews!

Excellent router! I own one and I'm thinking about buying another one to permanently mount on an edge binding router setup. At $99.00, it is a great buy.

Jim were you talkin about the trend or the ridged router. I do have the ridged router which I use for trimming sides and truss rod. But I need a plunge for the rosette.

Why would you need a plunge router to cut rosette channels? Seems to me that would make the job more complicated.

Well it seems it would be easier to lower it down to the depth instead of pushing/guiding it down by hand/feel. How do you do yours Ken?. Before you had cnc if that's what your using now.

I liked the control one has when using the small footprint Dremel tool with the optional router base, the base also has a rack and pinion for fine height adjustment. I attached it to one of these

I always worked a sample (scrap) and the project at the same time to assure proper depths.

Yes those are days gone by -- we use CNC machines now.
