Hello all,
I am new to the guitar building forum. I am a beginning builder. I was wondering what you ideas were on alternative woods? I played a guitar that had Mytrle back and sides. I loved the the way the figuring worked on the guitar, and some of the tonal characteristics. I wondered if anyone has done a build with Myrtle, and what their experiance was.
Thank you in advace.

Hi Justin, and welcome to the Forum!
I have not yet built with Myrtle, but there are some excellent steel-string guitars , played by professionals, whose names I will share as soon as I can remember them. <old>

You're welcome.
Hi Justin, welcome to the forum. I hear myrtle makes a great guitar and the figured wood is quite beautiful.

Welcome Justin,
I've built several Myrtle guitars paired with Port Orford Cedar tops. Myrtle is one of the easiest woods to work, it bends without issues and finishes beautifully. Tone wise, my guitars have a nice warm tone with good separation, one is a J-45 and the other is a small Jumbo. Myrtle is a good wood for anyone getting into building guitars, it's not to expensive and can make a nice looking and sounding guitar.
