I had a conversation with a kit vendor (not Ken) who mentioned that a road trip to Martin and a visit to their company surplus shop might turn up some materials suitable for me to use for skill development. Mentioned that prebent sides were sometimes available. So...in the event that prebent sides are offered, can they be moistened and bent once again into a different shape, for example, using Dreadnaught sides rebent for a OO shape?

I will add -- saving a couple of bucks is fine, but I can say without a doubt that building a guitar the "normal manner" will be far more enjoyable, likely with much better results than one that is a compromise using marginal/questionable parts and "repair mode parts and methods" --- KMG motto "Do it right - right from the start" is not a slogan, its a practicality derived from real world experience both from automotive and woodworking arenas.

Ken, that's a valuable perspective to keep hold of. I find it easy to drift into make-do situations when more discipline would be profitable. Thanks very much.

FWIW:
My expirience with rebending sides is disappointment. I had that while bending sides too far and straighten them back. It is soo easy to make flat areas and kinks in it. Also flatsawn wood tends to create wobbles.
I've bent set aside, but I'll leave them as a reminder. Reusing them would bring me a serious headache making a flawless surface. And I hate that headaches. Pay 20 bucks extra and adjudge yourself a smile.
