quite the coincidence

Post by Dave Bagwill » Wed Nov 12, 2014 4:25 pm

So yesterday I had a quick and successful procedure at the outpatient clinic - an endoscopy, no problems at all - BUT while I was seated with Ronda and some others in the large waiting room, two people one man one woman came in and were seated.
The man was wearing a respirator such as we might use in the shop; the woman was wearing a muffler of some sort around her mouth, and most of her head. Of course my first thought was - would it not be strange to have an ebola'd person right here next to us? No way, I told myself.
15 minutes later, out came a doctor and a nurse; they walked over to the couple and asked them to come back at 2 P.M. - it was now 10 A.M.. At 2, they said, a nurse who was better trained to assist them would be on shift.

You can see it coming - todays local news reported that a couple returning from West Africa is under self-supervision here in Medford and from the description, it was the couple next to us in the waiting room.

So - the federal administration is well known for blatant lying, but I do sincerely hope that they are telling the truth about communicability.

I'm actually feeling safe, but the wife may need a glass of wine or something this evening...

Glad to hear all is well with you -- for now?? just kidding

I hate when that happens -- who da thunk in Medford?

Am I supposed to keep you from posting for the next 21 days?

Oh yeah, nothing's wrong, healthy as a dang horse.

I'm safe, I think, to post within the 21 days, but keep your virus checker working just in case...

I haven't come that close but an possible ebloa patient showed up in my sister's city (pop. ~9,000) 25 minutes from me. They took him to Duke University Hospital. Crazy.

The immediate solution to Ebola is to stop it in West Africa. The long term is to create a vaccine and freaking give it away to anyone who is willing to take it.

The way this strain has spread leads me, a non-medico if there ever was one, to think it is somehow more contagious than previous strains. It may still only be spread by contact with bodily fluids, but the amount of contact required seems to have diminished significantly.

One of my old PCPs, also a good friend, recommended staying away from hospitals. He said they were dangerous to one's health.
