Acoustic Guitar Construction

Couldn't resist a bargain. Hardware store in town closing up. Bought a can of Minwax gel stain in 'Brazilian Rosewood' color. Does anyone have any experience with these stains on a guitar finish (Z-poxy topped with lacquer)?
