Neck angle no. 2 guitar
Neck angle no. 2 guitar
Hello guys I need help with this neck angle problem. Surprising I know!. I believe I did not sand enough slope on the fretboard ext. area. Looks to be 90 degrees top of rim to side at heel. My mistake. I did follow the mega mold procedure for the angle there. But I messed it up. If I trim my cheeks so the FB ext. area is flat and straight there is no space at the bridge area. Any suggestions welcome/help really!

We'll need some pictures of the problem.
And " I did follow the mega mold procedure for the angle there. But I messed it up."
please explain what you actually did or did not do -- if we know what you messed up its easier to diagnose and offer a plan for corrective action

Re: Neck angle no. 2 guitar
Here is a pic. I have already taken some material of the top of the cheeks to get here. 3/64 at sound hole top and 7/64 at bridge area. If close the topsoundhole space It will be tight at the bride location. Hope this makes sense with pic !

Re: Neck angle no. 2 guitar
I hate to press the issue but how could you have followed the MM instructions and end up with the sound board to rim angle of 90 degrees? That's pretty much impossible and kind of misses the whole idea of the fixture. What angle did you make the neck heel cheeks 90 degrees? Actually what you have there does not look all that bad. The fingerboard glue surface plane should be about 1/16" above the sound board at the saddle area.

Re: Neck angle no. 2 guitar
Ken I Did make the angles 88.7 on the heel cheek and went for 91.3 on the slope I'm not sure what went wrong there. I need to close the gap at the sound hole area at this point I believe to keep the straight line. And that would leave less than a 16th at the saddle area. Is that acceptable ?. Sorry to be a Piass
Re: Neck angle no. 2 guitar
All you need to do is make a thin shim to fit under the fingerboard extension -- lot so of makers resolve the issue that way. Or do this --

Re: Neck angle no. 2 guitar
Thanks Ken for advice. Would you make the shim out of top material or fingerboard material?
