Yew??

I'd not thought of Yew as a possibility for tonewood. Has anyone here yewsed it? (sorry)
It sure cleans up nicely.

I know there were several luthiers using Yew for block banjo rims - not necessarily looking for the same tonal response in a block banjo rim - but still musical to some ears.

Dan Pennington may have been making rims with yew - but not sure.

Nope, never made a banjo rim from yew. Never heard that it might have some musical properties or interesting grain.
