The billets I use to yield "two" neck blanks are 3" x 4" x 30" + I don't think 24" long gets it done?

Hmmm...since a fella would not need extra for the stacked heel, would not 24" be enough?

My billet measurements are for two solid blanks. To your question "No" ---- $38 + shipping per board foot for Spanish cedar is not at all a good deal especially for glue up necks. Look for 5/4 or 6/4 slab cut. Fold it in halve (ie 48 x 4 x 1 1/4) BTW this is how Martin is processing blanks lately. Spanish cedar is usually about $7.5 - $8 a board foot even on Ebay. So each blank would cost about $16

I was thinking that I would cut out two complete necks - no glue-up. My artwork was not very accurate, but I meant to show the compete outline of the entire neck, complete.

I outlined a couple of existing necks onto some mdf and tried to make them fit.

The 4" x 24" mdf is plenty big for a NON-glued neck - if you are doing a stacked heel, scarf joint then like Ken says, you need 30". But I hope to bandsaw two necks from a billet (also taking Ken's advice to find more reasonably priced wood) and then shaping it with the copy carver or by hand.

The 4" x 20" is not large enough for two necks, even the 12-fretters. But one neck comes out of it easily.
