Hi guys. I'm trying to get to my photobucket account so I can post some photo's. Every year our little 8 traffic light town is besieged by an event known as Bonnaroo. It's a rock festival and upwards of 100,000 people attend. You can imagine the impact it has on us here. First thing is Verizon turns the cell towers towards the event. Causing us locals not to be able to use our stuff for upto 3 weeks.
A little girl who lives across the street was sitting on her bike in my front yard as she watched me sanding on a guitar neck. She didn't say anything just watched. I got to noticing her sitting on her bike watching me when I would drive into my carport. This went on for about three months maybe longer. One day as I pulled into the driveway she was sitting on her bike. She stopped me before I got into the door. She said "hi I'm Kalei". I said ok Kalei (pronounced Kaylee) how ya doing? She said do you build guitars? I said yes sweety I build guitars.
That's all she said just took off on her bike. The next day when I pulled into the yard she was there again. She said "how much do you charge to make your guitars"? Without thinking I said Oh hundreds and thousands of dollars. She said ok and took off on her bike again. Well this went on for about 3 months. Finally one day she said my birthday is May 27th. I said well happy birthday but it's only the end of March. What's up? She said I want you to build me a guitar. I said Kalei I have sorta known that for quite a while now. I said I have a guitar for you but your birthday is a long way off. Anyway have you ever tried negotiating with an eight year old? I soon lost the discussion about it not being her birthday for another month and a half.
OK I know when I've been beaten. I had found a little first act guitar somewhere or I think a friend gave it to me. Pink with flowers all over it. She was so excited. The next day she brought it back said her sister had broken a string. Now I didn't know the tuners worked on it. I found her another string and sent her on her way. Next day she's back. Teach me how to play. OK I taught her how to play "Mary had a little lamb on the E string. The next day she came back played the little nursery rhyme for me and said ok teach me something else. I reached for my tuner. There was just no way it would come anywhere near tune. I went into my guitar room and got her a Lyra baritone uke I had hanging on the wall. Tuned it for her and diagrammed some chords and sent her on her way. She began to come over every day for a lesson. I thought OK I'll teach her a four chord song to sing. She said I'm to shy to sing. I looked at her like she was crazy. I'm your music teacher and your to shy to sing in front of me? She said oh ok I guess I can sing for you. The next day she came over and had that 4 chord song memorized.
OK little girl I have some EIR and Western Red Cedar I made a form from some MDF and started. Ordered some purple heart for trim and fretboard. Trimming it in Ebony. Making it kind of girly. She has been in on every stage so far. She said I want you to let me build a guitar this summer. I said sweety you take off running whenever I fire up a powertool how's that going to work out? Anyway I wanted to tell this little story. I'm almost finished with it but can't get to photobucket to post pictures I'll keep trying until I succeed.

I'm sorry my computer won't go to my recent uploads in photobucket. My iPhone would post but it keeps saying photo to large. Can't find where to reduce the image. Sheesh!

Thanks Dave I think so. I have some pics to post but can't get through to my recent uploads on photobucket. Tried to upload from my iPhone but the image was too large. I can't find a place to adjust it. It's driving me crazy. Do you have Tapatalk on your phone if so I just can't get this forum to come up on there. It's so easy to post with that app. You can adjust the size.
