I'm Bob Dill, I'm a 65 year old retired cabinetmaker that's been learning how to build guitars for a little over 2 years. It all started a few years back when a couple of local Luthiers stopped by my shop and asked if I would run some wood through my sander, since I'd just retired and my machine was just sitting there, I gladly ran their stuff. One thing led to another, I was interested in what they were doing so I bought a couple of books and with a little help from them and the local luthiers, I built my first guitar. It turned out OK, but I had a lot of questions about the process that the books didn't answer, so I decided to get one of Ken"s kits, the rest is history. My questions were pretty much answered with the instructions in the kit and what wasn't Ken gladly answered with an E-Mail. I'm now working number 34 and 35, I spend more time in the shop now than I ever did building cabinets, my house is filling up with finished guitars. I've sold about a dozen guitars so far, one customer has bought four and is looking for more! I'm not looking for another profession but I need to make room so I can make more guitars and buy more wood. I've posted some pictures of some of the earlier models and will try to get some of the newer ones shot this weekend. Thanks to Ken for the forum.

Welcome to the Forum, Bob, and thanks for intro and the pictures.
That is some mighty fine work!!
I'm down here in Medford, and would love to come up and see some of those instruments in person.
I hope you will be a frequent contributor to the AGCF!

Ken asked me explained some of the guitars in the pictures. The first one is a all Walnut SJ, a good friend and excellent luthier said that the best Taylor he ever heard was a all Walnut.I scored on a piece of walnut that was 4" thick and 5 ft. long and perfectly quarter sawn for $100 from a local mill owner who is also a guitar player . I now have a lot of primo Walnut. The other is a all African Mahogany OO, this one lives with a doctor in California. It's very lightly built and has a big sound for a little body guitar. The shot of ones in my bedroom are a various different sizes and materials that I will go into when I post some of the pics. Dave, anytime you want to stop by is fine, I'm here ALL the time, the dogs and I love to have company. Tim B, I sorry Stella is not for sale.

That's some collection of. Eautiful hand built guitars! Nice to have you here and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work. I hope to see a fully documented build too. Everyone has different methods for doing things and I always learn something new from documented builds.

I was SO SURE that Tony would play the "Those are some real dillies" card that I did not do it. :-)
