Has anyone here used a Stewmac or other fiddle kit to build an instrument? I'm trying to gauge how much time is involved in building one.

Saga offers violins in white -- starting with this model. Tooling up for violins is a whole new deal, this is the way to go $.02

I made a stewmac fiddle and a Waldren Instrument fiddle from a kit. It really is an assembly and a finishing project. The hardest task is to cut the purling channel. Finishing really is the amount of time you want to put into it. But one of the kits can be assembled in a long day or weekend.
The value of the kit is you do get a little bit of education of the internal of a violin and how to set-up a violin.

Well, I've got my hands full with the guitars; some guy saw my ad in C/L and wanted to know if I could help him out with building a fiddle, and I'm ready to answer No. We could build a tiny tiny guitar though! :-)

Dave those are my thought's completely. I bought a fiddle kit once back in 1989. It was nothing but all the different wood needed to make the fiddle. I put it away as I had many years to go till retirement. Well I'm now retired and don't want to make a fiddle. I do have a two year old grandson who is going to get a tiny guitar(or uke) made from now fifty year old wood.
