On the slideshow for that Stauffer guitar, I noticed this tool.
Any idea what it is?

Yeah it's a plane - what kind of plane? Does it not look like a strange sort of plane?

That my friends is a Record Compass plane. Change the curvature of the sole with the screw gizmo!
