My first guitar

Post by patric » Wed Dec 18, 2013 10:07 am

Well I thought I'd better get my construction log posted. This is my first acoustic guitar and after much searching, decided to order a kit from Kenneth Michael guitars. It is an IR L-00 and I bought the Megamould and other tools which come with the 'Success Kit'. I have to say it was a good decision. It is a testament to the quality of the kit and the online build instructions that I was able to complete the guitar without having to bother the good people on this forum with my ususal stupid questions. The guitar came out great and my son ( who is a professional musician) reckons it is as good as any guitar in his collection, including the Gibsons and Taylors. It was probably beginner's luck, but I have now got the bug, and am on my second, a scratch build OM in English Walnut with a Bearclaw Sitka top. I will post some pictures of that
build in another post as I go along.
Below are some pictures of the L-00 build. camera went belly up towards the end of the build so the progress cuts off after the box is complete.

My appologies for the quality of the pictures - a photographer I am not.

I hope this is of interest

Patric that is really great. First build? That has to have you champing at the bit for the next one. Very nice.

Way to go Patric!!!

Looks great -- I'd sure like to see a pic of the completed instrument and a sound clip posted in the gallery when you get a chance.

Keep us posted on your new project.

Well thanks for the positive comments. If I can get the guitar back from my son anytime soon I'll get a picture of the finished instrument and maybe get a sound clip or video.
I built two electric guitars for him before this one so I had some idea about the general construction, but I have had much more enjoyment building the acoustic. So much so that I have started my second and have invested in the wood for a further 5!

Should keep me busy for the next couple of years anyway.
