Don't know if this was posted before, but I ran into this video. With a good headphone on this gives a nice idea about taptones of a rough top.

Interesting video. Mr. Greven deprecates a top I found interesting for its dark sound, but he uses a good mike and you can really tell the difference between tops, no matter which ones personally interest you. (I play everything on my computer through a component, bi-amped sound system - I am sure that helps.) He is an honest guy with a straight forward point of view conditioned by oh so many years of experience.

There are two other videos there that are good too.

Brace flexing: http://www.luth.org/images/web_extras/a ... lexing.mp4

Comparing finished insturments, including an old Gibson: http://www.luth.org/images/web_extras/a ... ing_02.mp4

The last one is really good. He plays essentially the same stuff on each guitar, describes the differences between each, in the same room, in front of the same mike, and offers specific, common sense comments on the sound. The old Gibson sounds very different. Is it because they don't make 'em like that any more, or because it is so old?

especially like the finished clips, shame he didn't play one of his L-00's, supposedly the best in the business.
