What is the purfling scheme here?

It looks to me like white binding, then black purfling/patterned purfling (does it have a name?)/black purfling.
Or does the purfling come with the black borders as it looks in the pic?
Is this difficult to install cleanly?

Looks like rope pattern marquetry. It can bought or even made in the shop. If you buy it pre-made the 2 black strips will be glued on. I find it easy to bend by hand or even in a fox bender. It is relatively easy to install. Herringbone is sort of the same just with two thinner strips glued up in a reversed direction.

Gurian marquetry is very easy to work with. It bends really well with heat without falling apart.
