Hi all, Ken particularly.
So I need to sand the upper bout flat to provide the correct neck angle and a flat plane for the FB extension. I missed/messed this step on my first so I want to get it right. I've read Ken's writings so I understand the aim so just want a technique for sanding the flat onto the upper bout and achieving the correct angle. As in the title I have an adjustable, but not mega mould.
Thanks all,
Mike

You are missing some key concepts the topedge of the rim is not perfectly flat it has a slope -- read here

That is what I am talking about, sorry If unclear, I understand what needs to be done but I don't have the mould in that guide, nor a mega mould so I need a way to put the slope onto the top bout at the correct angle. I meant flat as in not radiused like the back.

Can you post a pic of the mold you're using?

You have to mark the little wedge of material that needs to be removed 4" in back to the neck block its only about .06 at the widest part of the wedge. Use a 4" wide board and take your time --- so it slopes .06" to nothing at 4" ---- the picture shows how much/little that is in the real world. Do not over do it -- that will make you sad! Properly done you will have a 91.3 degree angle on the neck block.

For some reason, the way you explained this here made the "Light "go on...I mean it's not like it's in a Zulu dialect...just plain English, but somehow, I would bet money, marbles or chalk I screwed this one up...after all the trouble I've had with this lousy thing...I don't even want to go look....grrrrrr
if anyone here has any bright ideas about buying a so called "Cheaper Kit" get the info from Ken and seriously COMPARE the cost and work involved, it may (Should) make you change your mind...or let me put it this way, trust me...JUST DON'T DO IT!!

I hear you Ray. With the amount of labor that goes into a nice git, there is no reason to scrimp on parts.
I can't say if, much less how much, there is a problem in what you have done. But there are many ways to compensate assuming there is a need. For instance, fingerboards can be thicker at one end than the other.
Let us see what you have. Chances are it can be resolved.
