Mike, I guess I have to ask why you want to start your project with a repaired piece of wood?

But yes, it should glue up OK.

Thanks john, I'm getting a replacement piece but I was checking if, in principles it could be used. It's old Brazilian mahogany with lovely tap tone.

Is that the back plate? If so, it should glue just fine and you can easily reinforce it with a spruce strip and nobody will know or care. I recently finished a ziricote OM and the back plate had some cracks with light showing through. It was not broken into pieces like your wood, but it made me nervous to use it without a reinforcement. It is totally fine now and the finished guitar sounds amazing.

With this clamping set up

a clean split could be repaired with an invisible joint -- remember the "glue is stronger than the wood itself" --- seen in almost all modern adhesive ads -- I've tested and found that to be a true statement even with Elmer's original white glue.
