Bowclamps

I read somewhere that the product called a 'bowclamp' is an old idea, the trick being that, over a 24" length, there is a 1/8" (.125") rise from the ends to the middle. That middle measurement is called the sagitta, if I'm not mistaken.
Using the calculator from Mattola that one of the Kevins here provided, I think the radius of the curve comes out to 48".
I happen to have a kmg 40' radius pattern; if I use 40' (rather than the 48' above) I come out with a sagitta of .150".
.150-.125 = .025. If I use the 40' radius to make the bowclamp, will that .03" +/- make a huge difference, do you think?
