Disaster- Broken side...

Well, I was clumsy this morning...had most of the kerfing glued on for the back...I had one piece to go this morning, about 6" long to the tail block...it all went well last night and I was happy with the look and fit.. I cleaned up all the glue seep, looked good...put in the last piece, clamped it down with my rubber-band covered clothes pins, turned it up on it's side to wipe away the seep with a damp towel and promptly dropped it.
It fell top side down, only mold hit bench.. that's a good thing...then it bounced and went off the other side of the bench landing on the lower bout bass side (Part sticking above the mold) and cracked the side just above the mold for about 12" in length toward the neck..it did not break the piece off both ends of the crack are intact...it's 1 1/2" to an 1" wide...I can move the piece enough to get to most of the crack...all but the ends of course...
So...it's mahogany can I use CA and repair this? Will it wick into the START of the crack at both ends? Will it show?...Or should I just throw it all in the trash and start over...my first has been a real trial for me for some reason...makes me sick. :>(
Thanks for your help and opinions..

Ray....

I feel for you. I had a clamp come loose (actually, projectile) and put a 4" hole in my first set of sides.
I ordered a whole new set and now I have my top and back joined and rosette almost completed. I
found that starting over benefited me because I became more focused. But everyone is different.
If you post some pics maybe someone can give you an idea on a fix......good luck and don't let
this stop you.

Picture?

Split (horizontal) no problem -- vertical crack -- bad news!

Yeah that's the key question. If it is split along the grain, gluing the crack plus gluing on the usual side support strips will keep it from further cracking and no harm done.

Yes it's horizontal and 12" long...and a clean crack...no loose pieces...fits back together perfectly...sorry, still haven't got my replacement camera yet...the new Meds system is kicking in and the wife's meds are costing us $800 a month for the next 3 months...:>) nice huh?

Thanks, Ray
