I'm almost ready to route my channel for the rosette. I'm
using a 3mm wide abelone rosette that comes in pieces.
Anyway, after I do the dry fit to make sure everything is
okay, what kind of glue should I be using when I actually
install?

Completely seal the channels and surrounding area with lacquer (not shellac) install the Abalone and trim wood or plastic -- flood with CA -- done!

This is how they do it at the Taylor factor unfortunately they have removed the video. But its quick and works great.

Failure to seal properly will result in permanent bright yellow green stains

Is there a specific brand lacquer and CA that you use?

Nitro lacquer -- thin CA -- any brand will do. We use "Hot Stuff" CA.

Ken,
Why not flood the channel with shellac? Is there a problem?

Shellac tones/stains the light color woods (and is why I never use it at all) so at the very least it will have to be completely sanded off to prevent shading and I have documentation that nitro is a proven sealer for CA applications on soft wood.
