Well number one is with its new owner. It was given as a gift and he was shocked when he opened the case, He loves it. Time to build myself one. This one is a kit from Ken, Dread in walnut/maple with three piece back/ Stika spruce top, Maple/ walnut striped neck. This kit looks really nice !! Got the linings on last week and braced the back yesterday, Decided to glue the braces first and carve the scallops with my new Three cherries chisel. I made a little thickness guide out of pc board ( .060 Fiberglass circuit board material) for the ends of the back braces, it worked well as a guide for not letting me carve them too thin on the ends. This one is moving along well now that I have completed my first. Pictures below:

VEry pretty wood. I've had my eye on one of those chisels. What do you think of it?

I love the chisel, although I have never owned any good chisels so I can't compare it. It carves like a hot knife through butter.

That is a sweet looking back. I was so close to pulling the trigger on a similar kit from Ken a few years ago, but since the guitar was to be a surprise gift, I went with a two piece back. I wasn't sure my brother would like the three piece, but I sure as heck did. I'm glad to see one in progress. Nice brace end thickness gauge. It is very high tech, and yet low tech at the same time. That is a nice looking chisel as well. I think I need to get myself a good chisel. I suspect it will make brace carving even more fun than it already is!

The Two Cherries chisels are renowned for their quality. Your grandkids will be handing it down to their grandkids.
That birds-eye maple is awesome. The walnut is equally nice - when finished they will really look impressive.

Cool idea with the circuit board, I'm going to steal that.
