Dave, I REALLY like the sound. The sustain really comes through and it is a sweet kind of tinny sound, but then not really quite tinny either.
When do you start full production on the Bagwell F Top Gypsy?

Anyway, this one was fun and turned out fine - I'll know better in a few weeks after it has settled in a bit and been intonated etc - but it is time to move on.

My biggest regret is that I have been unable to get a good representative sound onto a clip. I'm working on it though.

It looks and sounds great. It has been fun to watch you work through your options and then do a great job executing. Do what you need to finish and bring the instrument up to stuff as I think it is (at least at this point) a one of a kind keeper.

I think you're right John - it may very well be a good one to keep around.

Kevin - there is no 'tinniness' in the sound clip as it was recorded and I don't hear any when I play it on my computer or headphones - maybe try listening with phones or different speakers? Do you have an eq that is switched on or something?
Not a big deal, but still...:-)

Oh I thought Gypsy guitars were supposed to sound tinny.......:>)
Actually Dave, I don't hear tinny, but it is different then your standard acoustic guitar..
How would you describe the sound? I really do like it!

On our Altec 2.1 I would describe what I hear as balanced in that the treble and bass have even volume, the treble notes are bright (a good thing) and the bass notes are mellow and not what I would have expected, both have very nice sustain and resonance. This type of guitar on the other hand generally has (from what I've listened to) very quick decay which is what is needed to play fast passages and runs that don't sound like a lot of noise.
