Most classical makers now lacquer the back and sides and French polish the sound-board. I like that plan - if I were currently selling guitars, if for nothing more than marketing that's the way I'd go.

If it was up to me, I'd do it different but this is the way he wants it. Nitro, 3 coats. No leveling, no buffing, no polish.

This guy likes to live dangerously, doesn't he? I guess he doesn't mind the look of orange peel. I hope it starts a trend where we no longer have to make our guitars look like glass. That would be nice.

I was going to say I did 3 guitars with Deft cans and I got 3 to 4 coats per can. There was alot of waste via overspray and I can't imagine you will get enough on the guitar to protect it or look very good, but hey you are experienced so I know you'll make it look good.
