Am I looking at the right thing - $20 each for bushings?

The drill bushing department at the auto parts store might have steel bushings of a size you want lurking among the steel brake lines. Trick is to find the right diameter, or one that can be reamed out to size. The idea of spending sixty bucks for three purpose-made bushings might concentrate the mind a bit.

I'm just guessing at the sizes but for part number 8492A242 which is for a 3/8" drill bit they are $7.46.

I should have looked at the bushings for 1/4" drill bits. They appear to be a bit more, about $8.40ish, depending on length.

$7 -$8 sounds about right. I once had a link to a place that had them real cheap, like $3 or $4 sorry I can't find it now.
