Here's how I did it; turned out very well. Sorry for all the pix but someone someday may find a use for them.

Congrats on a successful procedure Dave. Looks like you've got a nice secondary bevel there. Thanks, now I have 4000/8000 grit stone envy :)
Are you going to camber it at all or leave it square? (Or maybe there is one but I can't tell)

A slight camber.
And btw, that's a 40 micron/325 grit stone (diasharp) , then the 8,000 takanako stone. Brian Burns over the years has discarded the middle grits and found this system, straight from 40 micron to 8,000 grit, works just as well. Works for me, quick and easy.
