I have one of those too, and love it for the very same procedure. It is also great for trimming binding for butt joints...cuts so clean it leaves a polished end! My problem has always been measuring the cut just perfectly...I ether get a gap, or keep having to creep up on the right length. My impatience as usual.
So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.
