Personally I am not a big fan of "single point" fences. They are however very helpful if you need to resaw a warped or curved board. My plan of attack these days is to get a side and an edge of the board squared so it rides perfectly against a convensional fence, then the measured slices are taken off the outside of the blade.

I really like the idea of slicing off the outside of the blade. I can not tell you how many times I have had to true up stock I have been cutting because I managed to cut a curve into it. I am going to start cutting your way.

Yeah -- this method seemed a little counter intuitive at first, but it really saves a lot of time, reduces hassle and produces less waste. I have a spring board made of Masonite to push the billet against the fence but the design is clumbsy to use -- when I get it refined I'll post a picture.
