Acoustic Guitar Construction

Has anyone ever considered making a router jig with a long compass rather than just using it to draw the curve? I'm thinking of making a sturdy one for this purpose and thus have a smooth and precise routed curve rather than drawing the line, cutting it on the bandsaw and smoothing it on the sander. What do you guys think?

I would use it to draw the curves on some boards so that I could cut out a set of rails for the router. The router would follow the curve on the rails; the dish can be incrementally turned under the rails. A long compass jig seems complicated. I would be interested to see what you come up with. I never tried it but I once considered attaching a 15' chain to the end of my router and then just route away to the limits of the chain.

Yeah I'm talking about a long compass to cut the rails for the radius dish routing jig. Nothing complicated. I was just thinking of screwing the router mount on the compass so that the 1/4 inch bit would replace the pencil.
