With my second guess I just relied on my previous job as a logic engineer. #2 did have a different voice that I could hear. What surprised me that even after a lot of listens 3 and 4 sounded more alike than either of them to number 1.

You are right. I hear the same things. For some reason the Bocote OM does sound different. More modest, while the Ovankol OM is a beast. (Maybe one of my best). Ah well, maybe.
Ok: what is different between the two beside the hardwoods: The Bocote has a "Taylor" V-Class bracing and the Ovankol has a "Lowden" Dolphin bracing.

To those who are interested: (BTW: The top woods are quite the same for spicies, stiffness and thickness)
These are the bracing pics of the OM's. The Bocote one with the V-Class bracing and the Ovankol that has the Lowden style. Funny thing is that the Lowden style has a lot more wood glued to the top, but still, it is louder.
Maybe the lenghtwise bracing of the Taylor style inhibits the long pole movement. Hmm...You tell me.

My first evaluation was on the rhythm cuts as I could hear their voices. Listening to the picking the bocote guitar has the most balance and separation. especially mid-range bass notes in the pattern, they pop out and sustain a bit. I think for a finger style guitar I would pick that one (not intended as a pun) . The fact they sound so close really speaks to your voicing talents. All of the guitars sound wonderful.

Well now since I know I won't win a new Italian motorcycle if I guess correctly, I just won't try!
Back from a trip will try and listen to these today sometime.
