Hi Geoff! I was wondering if you had yet gotten anywhere with the wood i.d. or found it a new home. I have some interest, but several questions...Most of all wondering more, how large a stack than, what particular species. What piqued(?) my interest was the mention of a tenor type instrument. Ora resemblance. Was hoping to see you at the knife show in Eugene but didnt make it down. I was pleased to see a familiar name when I made my first foray into this site, a few weeks back!

Bob,

I can shoot some pics and post them here, or send them to you direct. If you are local, feel free to come and see the pile for yourself. We had a pretty good show in Eugene, as a bonus, I could give you a mini-show of my work.

Let me know how I should proceed, and thanks for the reply.

Hi Geoff! I am over in Bremerton, so a good two hours plus traffic. I'm not heading to your side of the Sound for a few weeks. So I would say if you had a photo and could share it here it would be good, in case someone else also could help you out. Meanwhile I'll be looking for plans for a Weisenborn (sp) and tenor type instruments. Will contact you when I'm going to head your way.

Okay! I can see where you might want this to go elsewhere! Some fair sized pieces considering it was trim and such! Will have to come see as it is pretty hard to tell from photos. Certainly looks to have a mohoganyish appearance. Thank you for the pics!

I got the results back from the Forest Products Laboratory. Herman, you were right, Red Meranti........ The other one was Narra, an African wood but not Afrormosia. I'm finishing up the second guitar out of the Narra. The first was a struggle. It doesn't like to stay bent, chips, cracks and has pores bigger than mine. The epoxy filler showed up on the inside. It does look and sound great though. They're for the grandkids for their 10th birthdays.
