Actually, I did draw the preliminary markings. But my kerfing was glued too proud to the rim (about 1/16" proud).ken cierp wrote:What happened to your preliminary markings/ guidelines? Did you skip that step? Its difficult to get a sense of how much you over sanded.
When I drew the marking, I laid the radius bar next to the blocks (but it was on the kerfing ) and drew the line. I suspect that the line was drawn too high, since the position of the kerfing was too high.
I wished I have a picture to show what exactly I am trying to explain here. I could only find one phone showing that my kerfing at the back rim side was glued too proud.
It was proud all around, but the red arrow pointed out the most obvious spot.
So, after I removed the block materials to the marking line, the blocks were still proud of the rim. So does the kerfing.
I thought that the kerfing needs to be trimmed down to close to the rim.
But this means that the whole process needs to be repeated, including resetting the height of the neck blocks, redrawing the new marking line, and removing more material from the blocks...
I hope I was thinking in the right direction. I just thought that the edge of the kerfing and the blocks need to blend to the rim.
I am not sure how I got to the situation in my original post. But as of now, I have raised the height of the neck block end more to reach to the radius bar.
I do see both tail and neck block matches to the radius of the abrasive bar.
Everything seems to be ok. None of the original rim profile has been sanded away yet.
I will measure whether there is a 1.5 degree slope on the neck block.
Thank you all for your helpful comments. Please let me know if you have spotted something wrong with what I have done.
