Fretboard problem
Re: Fretboard problem
You do not need to pull the frets --- please read and follow the instructions I posted above. I have renewed some really ugly fingerboards to near pristine condition using this process.

The 12” long sanding block your using....is that flat or radiused?kencierp wrote:You do not need to pull the frets --- please read and follow the instructions I posted above. I have renewed some really ugly fingerboards to near pristine condition using this process.
Re: Fretboard problem
Great question!!! A big mistake is to use a "contoured /radiused block" use a flat block that will smooth and average the frets nicely. On the other hand a radius block will tend to take much more material off along the outer edges of the finger-board -- not good and will result is a mess. Most pro's use a large bastard file for this operation.

You can use a nice file too. It doesnt have to be a bastard!
