Acoustic Guitar Construction

As written above, John, there are several ways to do it.
I, for me, do both the masking and the scraping appoach.
When finishing the guitar with the neck attached, I prefer the taping method.
When finishing apart I scrape.
As John P stated, you have to be sure where the bridge will be placed, otherwise you end up with some finish trouble.

In the end, taping leaves the nicest gluing surface. So if you are not decided, try to go for that.

Thanks John if I didn't like soaking in my old redwood tub so much, I wood consider doing that. Do you put anything on the bottom of the plane to protect the top?

Edit, I was just looking at the Lee Valley website and saw the have quite a selection on blades for the router plane. Do you have a preference for this application?

I only saw a post with the gentleman using that plane and thought it looked interesting. So far I have taped and been happy so far with the results.
