Looks good Tony. Do you use a template to layout the baces on the top?

I am embarrassed to say that I am not sure what it is!! I purchased 6 different figured rosette blanks from ebay and when they arrived, I forgot to write on them what they were!! I know I got redwood burl blanks and some spalted maple, and this is not spalted maple! When I was about to make the rosette for this guitar, I took those blanks out and looked to see which one had the most orange color that was close to the orange streaks in the back and sides of this guitar. This blank matched the best. Sorry but I can't be more helpful until tonight when I check the packing slip....if I kept it!Kevininca wrote:Tony, that rosette is beautiful...awesome burl. Thanks for the compliments!

That rosette looks like Walnut Burl.

There is a chance you are correct. I hope I saved the packing slip. Otherwise, it will only be a guessing game. Although, you are the man with the wood game, right? If anyone has seen this wood before, it is you!
Does walnut burl have orange in it? Man! I wish I could remember what I bought from that guy!!

I didn't get to check if I had the invoice for the rosette blanks, but I glued on the bridge plate tonight. I decided to make a proper gluing caul for this procedure, which you can see in the second pic. Previously, I had been using one of my cam clamps turned on its side...sort of like this:
Here is the one I glued tonight:
I think my new caul is much better! It is made of oak so it is nice and solid.
Thanks for looking!
