Hmmm, I thought for sure I could be a master luthier within three years with the help of this forum ;-). I guess I'll have to hope I make it to 90 as well.
Jim.

$.02 - I have used kmg kits for a couple of the guitars I've sold. And they were very good guitars, the owners are happy.
We all get into this for different reasons, and my reason was never to say "look what I've built from scratch" or to be able to charge $20K for a guitar, though I will build one for anyone for $20K!

The kit is of such quality that it is the luthier who makes the difference. Period. It's up to us. So it is possible to make a master-grade instrument before you are 90 - just sharpen the essential skills on a kit or two or three - joinery, gluing, working with tolerances, finishing, setting up, all that, until you've made a guitar that sounds and feels and looks blow-uour-mind great, and then slowly start doing some of the other stuff from scratch.

Hahahahahaha- that made it sound like I had made such a master-grade guitar.
Not yet, muchachos! But I'll be 90 before the rest of you :-)
