So is there' a difference in sound quality between 1 or 2 thousandths has anyone noticed?. Or simply easier to bend?

That amount of difference will not affect the sound.

Well thanx that's good to know. I just bent some maple sides to 3/32. I wanted to go more and chickened out. Next time I will go the extra. They did bend ok. Had some spring back but I think they will be fine. I did a second reheat also for 10 minutes at a lower temp. Do you guys do this as well?

Never found a necessity for a second heat.
Do the waist curve properly -- slightly over bent on a separate fixture (like the Taylor factory) heat the curves on the inside (compression side) and life is good, little spring back with sides that snap perfectly into the mold. What you are thinking is Correct -- the Fox bender with the blanket on the out side of the wood is not heating the blank properly.
