I did not show any pix of the cross-grain deflecting, but of course it is just a matter of placing the board on top of the middle two rods and using a 4.25 lb weight.

Does this little guy get some special bracing set up?

I have not decided whether to go ladder or X or A or Dolphin, but I'm leaning toward X, 1/4" bracing, with the 'A' in the top bout a la Lowden.
My plan - subject to the usual whims, flights-of-fancy, and will-o'-the-wisps to which I am subject - is to use this as my base model, which can be braced in any configuration, and also will work as a 14 fretter. I have a tremendous amount yet to learn and I need to have some constants before I can make headway; a given shape is one such constant.
A few things that I will do differently: I'll use a classical maker's technique for the braces that are inlet; a single-strand rosette and soundhole reinforcement scheme that I admired on someone else's guitar; making the pyramid bridge; and perhaps a little something different with the tone bars.
Nothing radical this time. But I'll post pix of anything interesting since we all seem to like pictures!

Well the holidays are over! Time to do some things on this guitar.

I made a simple rosette and installed it, cut out the soundhole, am letting the glue dry on the soundhole binding using the KMG method, works well. Also a pic of the top bracing diagram I've come up with. Nothing amazingly new.

I thought up a very easy way to bind the soundhole.
In this case, I used 2 x .045" cocobolo, cut to length, pinned into place with waxed paper underneath, snugged them up, and used thin CA. Let it dry, cleaned it up, done. And of course Ihad previously applied a sealcoat of shellac to keep the CA from wicking into the grain.
I could have used two or three different woods. But this guitar, being spruce/maple, needs some color to liven it up, and I believe I will use cocobolo for the bindings, thus the soundhole binding to establish a bit of a theme.
Anyway, this will be my method for soundhole binding from now on.
