For low hassle high return results, Tormek is hard to beat. If you really want to go whole hog, Brian Burns has a system that is almost as easy with an even more spectacular result. Brian's does not work on near as many cutting devices, though. I have both and love both.

I have a tormek and use it for some things but the hollow grind on a chisel drives me crazy, I am not sure why that is, maybe that I use the chisel upside down as often as right side up. I finally re-ground all of chisels to a flat edge and have been very happy.

The Brian Burns system sharpens chisel and plane irons flat.

I found and watched the link to Brian Burns YT video. Interesting system. I also found a link to LMI advertising the system, including the box and shims shown in the video, but it seems they no longer offer it as there is no price info or any way to order it. In fact, searching the LMI website for "Brian Burns" returns no results. The only way to get to the page is from the Google link:

LMI does sell the Japanese water stones, but I could not find anything else in a Google search showing where to buy the Burns honing guide. Is it still available?

You can get them directly from Brian. I called him at the number on his website and found him fascinating to talk with. This explains a lot about the system.
