Ok, after planing the stuff flat I reglued them with 2 thin black veneers. With Ken's advise to make the middle one a bit thinner.
Now it is a quatered billet again. Phoenixwood.

0.5 mm (1/64") stained maple veneer. One square yard 10 bucks.
I'll use it for headstocks, purfling and accents. You'll see more of it on the cutawaybuild.
