I'm sure your right Ken you always are Lol. I just used it before to restore antique finishes. Personally I couldn't tell the difference. But I did buy some special magic markers maybe they used dye instead of ink. My wife buys household things from some place online. They had a pkg of magic markers to touch up furniture. Not really what you would buy at Walmart.

Lonnie - does your wife have a link to a really black marker?

Dave I think the name of the thing is Harriet Carter. I receive emails from them all the time but I just trash them. I'll save it and send it to you. Couldn't you just use a drop of black dye on a QTip? Just an idea you could start with just a little on the tip.

I actually do use the ol' q-tip for ebonizing bridges and such. I'm a clumsy oaf, however, and in a tight spot - well, it's what I've been thinking of doing, just wanting to take that extra step and seal adjoining woods, so's I can sand or scrape off any surface dye.
Thanks Lonnie.

No problem Dave. I have all the faith in the world in you. I know your work and you will do good. This is off topic but wanted to tell you I built myself a 4'x4' work surface Table whatchmacallit. Something to put my MM on and still have room. I was sorely in need of some workspace.

The q-tip is a good idea, but for some added accuracy, how about cutting the tip off and using the shaft only?

Well that sounds painful.
