Oh my gosh, 1968- Bobby Goldsboro, I was enthralled with his music...Honey...it sucked me in, I'm a romantic, first time I heard it I cried...(Not ashamed) I had just lost a Lady friend and it had a powerful impact on me...for those who don't know who we are talking about...given a listen.. I literally wore the vinyl album out. I still have it but it's not playable. I'll bet that was a very cool afternoon!

This '68 song was recorded in one take and was
the number one song world wide for that year. It made him a millionaire many times over. No.1 in Great B. (2 times I think) again in '75? No. 1 in Australia...and on it goes.

Yes it was a Sunday afternoon in 1978 Reno Nevada. I had been asked to judge a guitar,banjo,and fiddle competition. He was also a judge we sat and talked all afternoon while listening to the different performers. It was very cool. He even did his cricket or frog sound for me:0)

Sounds like a very enjoyable time to me! I think we should all start another thread or everyone will think this is just about Django! :>)

I spent a very enjoyable day with Sammy Davis Jr. when I was 16. He was a character, not at all unlike you would think him to be...but very courteous, a true gentleman.
But he loved to have fun and would sing at the drop of a hat...dance, O My...what an entertainer, and more over...he encouraged kids to follow the game so to speak.. there were oh...maybe 10 of us...from our High School Band..He picked out some to sing back up and harmony, one of the kids played the piano, I played bass at the time...it was just a free-for-all of fun at our level....kind of a Rat Pack for young folks! One I'll never forget...if The kid missed a cord on the piano...he would sit down and show him....excellent entertainer and just all round great guy...He could play the guitar also and just about any other instrument I guess...a side of him most never saw!
It was a day I won't ever forget!!. :>)

Nope, Sgt. Carter wasn't there just good ol Jim Nabors, brushed by him and as I passed realized who it was.
