Brian mixes one part of 2-pound cut shellac with two parts acetone to make the equivalent of .6-pound cut shellac that is extremely fast drying. This he uses for pore filling instead of the traditional method of mixing pumice with shellac in the beginning stages of French Polish. He then pads shellac over the fill in a more traditional manner. Dave Bagwill can fill you in more about this than I, as Dave has actually studied with Brian. Dave says this method can result in a completely finished guitar in just a few hours of work. Brian told me about his system in a phone conversation and followed it up with some email. Dave has seen it in the flesh, so to speak. I hope he will chime in here.

I was a a spray boy myself - for many years as I worked my way through school - and got a belly full of lacquer in my youth spraying post war housing boom construction. It has some definite pluses for guitar finishing but it takes a couple of years to cure enough to cease damping sound. Shellac reaches this happy stage much quicker, is virtually non toxic, and does not require expensive equipment to apply. I think the same things can be said about Tru Oil.

Boy, I must be loosing it! Sorry John, I found the other post quite by accident DUH?...anyway, I really appreciate your effort and time...YES! I have used shellac like this before and it surely does work well! That's where I got the idea to try using Tru-oil in the same manner.

No problem at all Ray. There is a lot of information here, contained in many posts. Keeping track of them is not always easy.
