Tentalones -- simply were the "high tech" method of the era, no band saws, no table saws, no routers, no CNC machines. Like so much else (basically every thing else) a "better way" was developed. For some reason it seems the romance with the luthier trade tends to cloud the natural progression of time and tech. Guitar making has its "bad old days" too. Hats off to who ever invented ribbon kerfing. $.02

Yes Bob, I knew that. But forgive me my twisted English, which causes misunderstandings now and then. Funny though Ken calls them "Kerfings" too now.

My point was that I/we are so nitpickers if things are not superslick. If we have a scratch in the finish we feel bad. Guess in those days the functionality was most important, over other issues.
