Ken, on figured maple I always stain the bare wood. (Here: Stewmac Liquid Stain). Then I sand all the color off, except what is in the pores. After that I tint the laquer and spray up to the disired darkness. And clear coats (about 20) on top of that.

Great looking guitar and I do like how you pop the grain with the bare wood stain; your finish on the top is gorgeous! From my point of view you can post as many of the unspeakable guitars as you want. I enjoy seeing them.
