My complete wood working experience before starting guitar building was assembling a rocking chair kit. It went quite well and you could even sit on it without sliding off if you held onto the arms very tightly and jammed big wedges under the rockers.
When I retired I wanted a challenge, something to keep the brain cells from atrophying, so I started writing and guitar building. As I knew not a lot about either I thought they'd be ideal.
I am glad to say that I keep surprising myself, most of the time happily, although there have been some set backs.

Unfortunately my new activities have uncovered the darker side of humanity and my workshop is now off limits to all except by invitation (one every century, handed out to applicants who can produce both great great great grandparents in living condition). You may have experienced something similar...."I've always wanted to do something like build a guitar, and you've got the wood, and the tools and the workshop...." Or the truly vile..."Of course, I've never made a guitar, but I would have thought that infintesimal speck just there would render it valueless. You should have used Old Scrote's Special Varnish, he hand distils it in a croft somewhere in the Orkney Islands, I read about it in a paper. In any case Rosewood is so passe', I hear laminates are the up and coming thing...."

Anyway, the guitar body is nearly finished so I think the bridge will go on today or tomorrow.
