Kevin, I think the dread would have looked much better with a natural finish myself but I had to try my hand at staining. I've got it out of my system for awhile. Yes, it’s spruce and a very pretty top.

I’m pretty happy with the way they look but I’m blown away by the way they play and sound. All these years I had no idea that a kit guitar could match the sound and playability of the big boys. I’ve owned and still do own quite a few acoustics by Gibson, Martin, Guild, Larrivee & others. These hold their own pretty well and the dread is a banjo killer.

There might be a little bit of builders pride involved in these statements. LOL,,,,, OK, they’re not the best guitars I’ve ever played but they are sure nice!!

Thanks for the encouraging words Herman. I’m going to keep spraying. I enjoy the process.

Those are two very nice guitars! I think you did an excellent job staining the spruce. It can be a tough wood to stain evenly.
