That's some gorgeous wood Dennis. KMG kits are the best. I've ordered my third kit and will be ordering more. Ken supplies the best materials.
That is going to be a beautiful guitar!!!! More pictures please.....

I completed the rim assembly today. The mega mold system sure makes easy work out of sanding the back radius & the neck slope.

During the sanding process to radius the bottom edge of the rim I encountered a new problem. As you can see in this picture, the side edges near the vertical center joint dip down slightly. I noticed that I was sanding in a dip along this edge on each side of the head block before I sanded down to the actual edge of the rim. This didn't look right to me so I glued on a small spruce shim the thickness of the side to eliminate the side dip and then glued on a 1/64" piece of plywood on top of the head block. Now, after final sanding, the edge curve in this area transitions smoothly through the center joint area, as I believe it should be. If my thinking isn't correct, I'm sure Ken will let me know. The finished height along the center joint (after top & bottom rim sanding is 3 1/4".

The height at the neck block including top and back plate is about 3 5/16" +/- is no big deal body depth varies wildly. For sure that should not have had a dip -- perhaps a little too aggressive with the bar flexing the shaft? You'll be fine.

Russ - the best kits on the planet are from KMG guitars (Kenneth Michael Guitars). You can contact Ken by email, tell him what you are thinking and he will guide you through the process. You'll be very glad you did!!
